Everyone is always talking about how delicious green smoothies are, and don’t get me wrong they are! But, carrots are hands down my favorite vegetable to sneak into smoothies. They’re naturally sweet, add a great pop of color, and pair well with lots of ingredients.

Plus, not only is this smoothie tasty, but it’s packed with health benefits. Did you know carrots are loaded with vitamin C as well as vitamin A?

Vitamin C helps build antibodies that help your immune system (woo!). Meanwhile, carrots are loaded with beta carotene which is then converted into vitamin A in our bodies. And why does this matter? Because this vitamin is not only great for vision, but also for boosting our immune system as well.

And, on top of all that, carrots are rich in fiber. This helps keep our gut health happy, along with supporting a decreased risk of illness.

Safe to say this immunity boosting breakfast drink is a fantastic way to start the day. And, avoid flu season!

WHY YOU’LL LOVE THIS RECIPE

Simple Ingredients – This carrot smoothie recipe is made with just 3 ingredients. Yes, 3! But, you can of course add additional ingredients (see ideas below).

Easy to Make – With just a few ingredients, this smoothie only takes minutes to make. Simply add all the ingredients to a blender and you’re set.

Healthy & Tasty – The best kinds of recipes are those that make you feel good, while tasting good. This carrot smoothie is not only packed with benefits, but it’s also super refreshing. It’s a great way to get kids (or veggie-hating adults) to eat vegetables.

INGREDIENTS NEEDED (WITH SUBSTITUTIONS)

To make this carrot banana smoothie you will need the following ingredients:

Non-Dairy Milk – Any dairy-free milk is fine to use in this recipe. Almond milk, oat milk, and soy milk are all good options. You can also use canned coconut milk if you’d like to add in some healthy fats. Out of milk? Orange juice is a delicious substitute.

Carrots  Carrots are of course the star of the show. While I like to use baby carrots since they’re pre-peeled, regular raw carrots are also perfectly fine. Just make sure to peel them first!

Frozen Banana Bananas add fiber and antioxidants to this smoothie, as well as a smooth and creamy texture. Using ripe bananas is important, as they add a nice sweetness. If using fresh bananas, add ice cubes.

HOW TO MAKE

Making this delicious smoothie is super easy! For full ingredients and instructions make sure to read the recipe card below.

Step 1: To begin, add all ingredients to a high-speed blender. I recommend adding the milk first, followed by the rest of the ingredients to avoid anything getting stuck.

P.S. For a smoothie bowl texture, reduce the amount of liquid.

STORAGE & REHEATING

Smoothies are best enjoyed fresh and since they only take a few minutes to prep are easy to make.

However, you can make the smoothie ahead of time. Simply, place it in a mason jar and keep it in the fridge for 1-2 days. When ready to enjoy, give it a shake to mix everything back up and enjoy!

ADDITIONAL ADD-INS

While you can make this smoothie with only 3 ingredients, you can also jazz it up with plenty more! Here are some of my favorite ingredients to include:

  • For extra protein, add in plain or vanilla protein powder.
  • Other frozen fruit like mango, pineapple, peaches, or strawberries.
  • Seeds such as hemp seeds, flax seeds, and/or chia seeds
  • For a creamier texture, add in dairy-free greek yogurt
  • For a zesty kick, add in fresh lemon juice, fresh ginger, or fresh turmeric.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What’s the best blender for smoothies?

Looking for a blender? I have and love the Vitamix, but you don’t have to shell out hundreds of dollars for a good high-powered blender. If you don’t want to invest in a Vitamix, Ninja also makes a fantastic and affordable blender!

Can I add protein powder to this smoothie?

Absolutely! You can add a scoop of plant based protein powder to this smoothie for an extra boost of protein. If you’re looking for good quality vegan protein powders, I highly recommend Nuzest and Sprout Living.
