Bowl with white rice, brussels sprouts, and crispy tofu.

This baked tofu requires just three simple ingredients:

  • Olive Oil
  • Soy Sauce
  • Nutritional Yeast
  • And a package of extra firm tofu (firm also works).

That’s all! And it pairs especially well in pasta dishes, lunch bowls, curries, all of it.

HOW DO I COOK WITH TOFU

If you’ve never cooked with tofu before, we’ll take it step by step!

Step 1: First things first you need firm or extra-firm tofu. Firm tofu doesn’t crumble and is easy to chop, hence why it works best for this recipe.

Step 2: The next step is to press the tofu. This is important to get rid of the excess water. You can do this by using a tofu press (this is the one I use!) or by simply placing the tofu on a plate with a paper towel on top, and a heavy item layered on top of the paper towel (like canned goods). I usually press my tofu for 15-30 minutes.

Step 3: Chop the tofu into 1 inch rectangles and place in a bowl along with the olive oil and soy sauce. Use a spatula or wooden spoon to shake the tofu around gently and coat it evenly.

Step 4: Once coated, add the nutritional yeast to the bowl and use the wooden spoon/spatula to coat the tofu.

Step 5: Then, place the tofu on a parchment-lined pan and bake, following the instructions below.

And that’s it! I think cooking with tofu is honestly so fun, so hopefully you find it to be an enjoyable process too!

CAN I AIR-FRY THE TOFU?

For this recipe I chose to bake it, but you can also air fry it! I think baking and air frying are by far the easiest ways to enjoy tofu since they’re both hands-off. Also, hot oil scares me…but I’m working on that.

To air-fry the tofu, simply add the tofu into the air fryer. Set the temperature to 390F and the timer to 15-20 minutes, and shake every 5 minutes to make sure the tofu cooks evenly.

P.S. if you’re searching for a good air fryer this is my favorite of all-time!
