If you’ve ever thought about making homemade ice cream, chances are you’ve come across the Cuisinart Pure Indulgence Ice Cream Maker. It’s one of the most popular beginner-friendly machines on the market and has been a go-to for years!

I personally looooove making ice cream at home, especially experimenting with seasonal flavors and fun combinations you’d never find at the grocery store (I’m talking sweet corn & strawberry specifically). So after hearing about this machine over and over again, I decided to give it a try.
Fast forward to now, and I’ve probably made well over 50 batches of ice cream with it! Everything from simple vanilla to more creative flavors like strawberry basil, carrot cake ice cream, and lemon shortbread.
So after all that testing (and a lot of ice cream tasting), I figured it was time to share my honest thoughts!

Okay, okay this will be brief because I assume if you’ve landed on this page you probably know what this machine is! But for those who don’t the Cuisinart Pure Indulgence Ice Cream Maker is a countertop appliance designed to make homemade ice cream, frozen yogurt, and sorbet.
Unlike some high-end machines that have built-in compressors, this one works using a freezer bowl that you place in your freezer ahead of time. The bowl contains a special cooling liquid inside the walls that freezes solid and keeps the ice cream mixture cold while it churns.
Once the bowl is fully frozen, you simply:

Cons
While I’ve had a great experience with the machine overall, there are a few limitations worth mentioning before deciding if it’s the right fit for you.

In my experience, it’s is a great option for people who:

- enjoy experimenting with flavors and recipes
- don’t mind freezing the bowl ahead of time
- are looking for a reliable, beginner-friendly machine
It might not be the best choice if you want to make multiple batches in one day (unless you get an extra freezer bowl) or prefer a machine with a built-in compressor that doesn’t require pre-freezing.
Overall Thoughts
After making 50+ batches of ice cream, I can confidently say that the Cuisinart Pure Indulgence Ice Cream Maker is one of the best beginner ice cream makers out there. It’s simple, reliable, and consistently produces great results!

The only real drawback is the need to freeze the bowl ahead of time, but once you get into the habit of keeping it in the freezer, that becomes much less of an issue.
